As of 2022, the central bank of Egypt (CBE) held almost 2.99 trillion Egyptian pounds (around 96.8 billion U.S. dollars) in assets. Of those, the majority were financial investments, and loans and deposits to banks at 790 billion Egyptian pounds (nearly 25.57 billion U.S. dollars) and around 319 billion Egyptian pounds (10.32 billion U.S. dollars). Furthermore, there was a significant value of assets characterized under other debit balances.
