Between 2022 and 2023, Instagram saw an increase in conversations including the word boyfriend of 4,132 percent, whilst conversations using the word girlfriend grew by 3,167 percent. On Facebook, discussions about intimate relationships increased year-on-year by over four thousand percent, and instances of the word matchmaking saw increases of 135 percent on Instagram.
