In 2019, greenhouse gas emissions from all sectors in Mexico amounted to 736.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. The energy sector accounted for the largest share of emissions, at 64 percent. Agriculture, forestry, and other land use (AFOLU) ranked second, accounting for 19 percent of emissions.
