At the beginning of 2023, more than one in ten majority women-owned businesses in Canada planned to increase the number of employees over the next three months. This represents about the same share as all private sector companies. On the other hand, more than three-quarters of them had no plans to change the size of their workforce.

Three-month forecast regarding the number of employees in businesses majority-owned by women and in all private sector businesses in Canada in the first quarter of 2023
The source adds the following information: "The results in this table are based on the survey that was in collection from January 3 to February 6, 2023, and respondents were asked what their expectations would be over the next three-month period. As a result, those three months could range from January 3 to May 6, 2023, depending on when the business responded." "Majority ownership is defined at 51% or more. Majority-ownership was self-reported for private sector businesses only."
