Theater is the most popular type of performing art event in Spain, according to surveys conducted in recent years. Between March 2021 and February 2022, around eight percent of Spanish respondents reported having attended at least one theater play in the year prior to the study. In the last edition of the survey, all type of events registered a strong attendance decline due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
