In 2022, a total of 322 Democratic and 261 Republican women ran for a seat in the House of Representatives. While Republicans have historically struggled to have as many women on the ballot as Republicans, the gap has been closing in recent years. At the 2022 midterm elections, 91 Democratic women and 33 Republican women were successful in winning their race.
