In 2023, there were approximately 12.4 million hospital admissions in Brazil. The highest number of hospitalizations was due to pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium, amounting to over 2.1 million. Meanwhile, there were more than 1.3 million hospital admissions related to diseases of the digestive system. That same year, circulatory system diseases were the leading cause of death in the country.
