A 2022 survey conducted among Chinese patients suffering from depression concluded that almost 80 percent of all respondents attended their initial consultation at a psychiatric hospital or a public tier-three general hospital for their first visit. As the psychiatric treatment sector is still in its early stages in China, patients prefer to go to public and specialist healthcare providers for diagnosis and treatment.
