Length of recovery from cyber attack in Africa 2022

In 2022, a survey found that 73 percent of respondents from African businesses that experienced a cyber attack managed to recover within a few days at most. In contrast, the recovery lasted more than two weeks for eight percent of the firms.

The survey underlined the importance for organizations to establish adequate confidence in their overall cyber awareness and incident response capabilities to foster digital trust and enhance consumer perception positively. Moreover, the negative consequences of lost productivity and reputation damage resulting from a cyber incident, whether lasting a few days or more, can be severe. To mitigate the impact on staff and customers, incident response strategies should be effectively integrated with business continuity plans.
