According to a three-year survey, the share of Germany respondents without access to a banking account virtually disappeared between 2017 and 2021. The decline seems especially fueled by the decline of "unbanked" population - or those who or those who did not access to the services of a bank or another, similar financial organization - among the youngest respondents, as the share of 15-to 24-year-olds respondents declined from three percent in 2017 to zero percent in 2021. The source does not mention whether figures were rounded. Despite the relatively low unbanked population in the country, the market share of cash in German physical stores remained high in 2021.
