In 2022, a survey found that 26 percent of cyber attacks faced by African companies was in the form of compromised business emails. Although business email compromise (BEC) was prevalent, various attack types were pervasive in general. This shows that it is imperative for organizations to establish a robust security framework that includes technical and human-focused defense or response strategies.

Respondents were from the following business sectors: financial services, government/ public sector, manufacturing, energy and natural resources, Information & communication technology (ICT), and others.
