In the United States, YouTube ranks first as market leader among video and entertainment websites, leaving VoD providers Netflix and Hulu staggering behind. Online videos include a variety of types from a six second long Vine to a full length movie and can be accessed via any device with an internet connection. The weekly time spent by U.S. users watching video content on smartphones has grown steadily over time. The results reveal that smartphone users aged 18 to 24 years spent more time watching video content than any other age group as they spent on average 83 minutes consuming videos per week. In contrast, smartphone users aged between 50 and 64 years only spent an average of 36 minutes per week watching mobile video content.
