Leading reasons for the truck driver shortage in Europe 2021, according to operators

In 2021, a survey was conducted where fleet operators ranked the reason they considered as top one or two for the truck driver shortage in Europe. The difficulty to attract young people to the profession and lack of skilled drivers recieved higher rankings from respondents, with 45 and 46 percent of fleet operators placing them in their top two respectively. Young drivers under 25 years old made up around seven percent of truck drivers in Europe in 2021.
