Perceptions on the health care system in Spain 2023
According to a 2023 survey conducted in Spain, more than seven in every ten respondents agreed that waiting times to get an appointment with doctors were too long, while the same share stated that the health care system was overstretched. Similarly, nearly one-third claimed it was difficult to get an appointment with a doctor in the local area. However, around 64 percent of interviewees trusted the Spanish health care system to provide proper treatment. In 2021, public spending on health represented approximately 7.3 percent of the Spanish gross domestic product (GDP).
