The total volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) imported to Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) was 0.46 metric tons in January 2023. The major LNG importer in LAC during that time was Chile, amounting to approximately 0.13 metric tons. Comparatively, in January 2021 and January 2022, Brazil was the leading LNG importer in LAC, with imports of 0.52 metric tons and 0.47 metric tons, respectively. Due to significantly higher hydro levels compared to the previous year, Brazil did not import any LNG in January 2023.
