While in the United States, Apple's iOS rates much higher in popularity when compared to Google's Android OS, in the EU5 (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, U.K.) it is Android that is the most used operating system amongst smartphone users. As of December 2012, 50 percent of the market was held by Google. Apple came in at just 20 percent.
