The United States planned to add 62.8 gigawatts of capacity for electricity generation in 2024. Solar power will account for almost 60 percent of this volume, followed by battery storage capacity additions, with 23 percent. In the same year, the U.S. had planned capacity retirements for coal, natural gas, and petroleum.
