Payment types accepted by e-commerce vendors in Australia, New Zealand in 2022, 2024
Although credit cards were the most accepted online payment in Australia and New Zealand, two out of 10 merchants still hoped to offer these in the next years. This is according to a survey held in February 2022 which asked e-commerce vendors about what digital payment methods they already accepted and which ones they either plan or do not plan to implement between 2022 and 2024. These merchants were found in both the B2B and B2C business environment, although the source does not separate between them. Australia and New Zealand - which the source put together, under the label "ANZ" - have a few stand-outs. First, there is a relatively high acceptance of buy now, pay later (BNPL), likely due to the popularity of Australian initiatives like AfterPay.
