A December 2021 survey found that around half of the consumers in the United States, 48 percent, were "data pragmatists." Even though the individuals in this category were concerned about online privacy, they would still trade their data for better service or other rewards. A further 31 percent were categorized as "data unconcerned," or as people who did not worry about online privacy. The third group involved "data fundamentalists." People in this category were concerned about online privacy and were more strict about sharing their personal information.

Data Unconcerned present lower levels of concern about their personal data usage.
