In December 2021, there were 2.6 million crypto mining pool service IPs detected in China, of which around 70 percent were from domestic origin. After the government cracked down on cryptocurrency mining and trading in China, many miners left the country or implemented precautions to avoid detection by the authorities. These include joining mining pools, using VPNs, or spreading out the internet traffic of crypto mining over many IP addresses.
