In France, the investigative services of the Inspection Générale de la Police Nationale (IGPN), the inspection service of the National Police, were referred to 56 judicial investigations for moral harassment and 51 for discriminatory insults in 2021, which is fewer than the previous year.
The year with the most investigations for use of force was 2019, a year in which there were many demonstrations related to the yellow vest movement, as well as acts of police violence.
