In 2020, some 39 percent of all ship exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) in operation globally were installed on bulk carriers. About 26 percent of EGCS in operation were fitted on oil and chemical tankers and further 20 percent on container ships that year. There were over 4,000 ships fitted with scrubbers worldwide in 2020.
