In a very high number of the countries included in the survey, more than half of the respondents stated that a main reason to set up a business was because of a lack of paid jobs in their country. This was especially the case in emerging economies such as Jordan, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and Ecuador. On the other hand, in more advanced economies such as Sweden, South Korea, and Norway, between 25 and 30 percent stated this as a main motivation.
