A 2022 survey showed that nine in ten organizations in the media and leisure sector were keen to report cyber incidents to the government within a reasonable timeframe. Most board members from the tech industry, 87 percent, also agreed that reporting cyber incidents correctly is beneficial for organizations. Less convinced were the organizations in the energy, oil, gas, and utilities sectors, with only six in ten agreeing with the statement.

The source surveyed 600 board directors from organizations of 5,000 employees or more across different industries in 12 countries. 50 board directors were interviewed in each market, which included the United States, Canada, United Kingdom (UK), France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, Singapore, Japan, Brazil, and Mexico.
