As of 2018, there were around 12.38 million housing units with a floor area of 70 to 99 square meters in Japan.
Dwellings with a floor size of 29 square meters or less amounted to 5.63 million. Overall, there were around 53.6 million occupied dwellings in Japan in 2018.
