According to a government survey conducted in Japan from September to October 2022, the most popular effort to reduce plastic waste was the correct separation of garbage, which around 77.6 percent of respondents claimed to be actively engaged in. Choosing refill packs for products like shampoo, or using package-less products, such as meat, fish and vegetables sold over the counter, was the second most popular effort as stated by more than 56 percent.
