In 2023, 76 new restrictions on internet usage were placed worldwide. Asia ranked first by the number of new restrictions, with roughly 55 cases originating from the region. This number has decreased almost twice since 2021. In Africa, on the other hand, the number of new restrictions saw a slight increase in 2023 compared to the previous year.
