The term "NewSpace" refers to the development of the private space sector. NewSpace endeavors are becoming more common, including sub-orbital tourism, small satellite constellations, and private launch services.

The deal count refers to all 2021 capital rounds (deals with disclosed and undisclosed deal values in the German NewSpace ecosystem; however, only the cumulative disclosed investment volume is shown. According to Capitol Momentum, some 23 private capital investments were made into 22 German NewSpace startups. In 2021, there were 12 transactions with undisclosed deal values.
