The coverage of health insurance for extreme sports in the United States is a contentious issue. Some believe that the high-risk nature of these activities means participants should bear the costs of any injuries. However, others argue that insurance should cover the costs of injuries as these activities are enjoyed by a significant number of people. According to a survey conducted in December 2022, public opinion was divided on this issue. Of the respondents, 50 percent agreed that extreme sports or activities should be covered by health insurance, while 21 percent disagreed.
