Hospital employment in France 2013-2021, by staff type

As of the 31st of December 2021, hospitals in France employed close to 1.4 million individuals, of which most are non-medical care staff. The number of non-medical care staff, such as nurses and care assistants, amounted to 860,000 employees in 2021. On the other hand, medical staff such as doctors and midwives had a headcount of 168,000 that year.
