In the first ever IHF World and European Wheelchair Handball Championship, the six-a-side team from Portugal were victorious, beating the Netherlands in the final. Norway, who have seven Olympic medals in handball, came third. While wheelchair handball is not yet included in the Paralympics, the IHF hopes to see the event included in the 2028 Games.
