A large majority, over 80 percent of respondents, knew correctly that only bacterial infections can be effectively treated with antibiotics. However, more than a third of the surveyed falsely stated that antibiotics can also treat viral infections.

Note: the survey included 2022 adults (aged 15+,) including 521
black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) participants, and
406 aged 15–25 years olds.
