In September 2024, QR code payment services were the most used cashless payment method at convenience stores in Japan, with a payment volume of 312.6 million transactions. QR code payments surpassed electronic money services as the most-used payment method for the first time in July 2022. The share of cashless payments made at convenience stores increased compared to the previous month.
