Hydrogen production forecast share worldwide 2050, by technology

A forecast modelled in the Accelerated Energy Decarbonization Scenario (AEDS) estimates that a 48 percent share of global hydrogen production will be attributable to green hydrogen technology in 2050. Blue hydrogen, a technology that involves natural gas steam reforming with carbon capture and storage, is forecast to account for a 40 percent share of hydrogen production in 2050.
