A Brazilian aged 15 years and up would make nearly 80 debit card payments per year in 2021, an increase of 16 percent compared to 2020. Both in absolute and relative figures, the use of debit cards in the Latin American country continued to grow - even though the per capita use of debit cards was significantly less than in the U.S. in 2021. Debit cards were not a popular in-store payment method in Brazil since the coronavirus pandemic.
