In a survey on crime awareness carried out in South Korea in July 2023, using a public toilet was considered the most dangerous situation by both male and female respondents, at 98 percent and 94 percent respectively. This was followed by walking alone at night for male respondents and being in an elevator alone with a stranger for female respondents.

The survey was conducted among 497 male and 503 female respondents.
