A survey conducted in 2022 among construction business owners and managers revealed that over 46 percent of respondents were having trouble recruiting tradespeople. Construction businesses also reported having a hard time recruiting technical workers, as well as supervisors and team leads.

For the companies surveyed, the financial year ran from 1 April, 2021 to 31 March, 2022.

Respondents include those working in residential building construction, non-residential building construction, heavy and civil engineering construction, land development and site preparation services, building structural services, building installation services, building completion services, other building construction services, scientific research services, and architectural, engineering and technical services.
