2020 saw seven women run for the role of President of the United States, significantly more than any other year. These candidates included Tusli Gabbard, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Marianne Williamson, Amy Klobuchar, and Jo Jorgensen. As of November 2024, three women had campaigned in the presidential race: Marianne Williamson, Nikki Haley, and Democratic Nominee Kamala Harris.

The source uses the following criteria to define women presidential candidates: achieved major historic firsts; were named in national polls; achieved prominence by holding significant elected or appointed office; appeared on the general election ballot in a majority of states; and/or became eligible for federal matching funds.
