According to a survey conducted in November 2022, around 39 percent of consumers in their fifties in Japan used cashless payments whenever possible. At the same time, 13 percent of respondents in that age group stated they only used cash.

Cash and cashless users: 50 percent of transactions are cashless.
Conservative cashless users: 20 to 30 percent of transactions are cashless.
Cash users: only using cash.
