As of 2020, the infrastructure investment budget in East Africa amounted to around 8.4 billion U.S. dollars, the largest in Africa. North Africa followed, allocating approximately 6.6 billion U.S. dollars. The two regions maintained the largest budgets in Africa in the previous year as well. In 2020, South Africa alone invested 3.9 billion U.S. dollars in infrastructure.
