In 2022, the majority of the respondents to a survey conducted in Canada on support or opposition for the expansion of nuclear power generation supported the expansion of nuclear energy in the country. Specifically, a positive attitude toward this energy source was reported by more than 70 percent of the respondents that voted for the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) in 2021. More than half of the survey respondents that were affiliated with the Liberal Party of Canada and the New Democratic Party of Canada (NDC) were strongly in support of the expansion of nuclear power generation.
In contrast, almost 70 percent of the Bloc Québécois voters were opposed or strongly opposed to nuclear power generation expansion. Similarly, over 50 percent of the Quebecer respondents to a survey on the expansion of nuclear energy expressed a negative opinion on it.
