Types of movie fans in the U.S. 2023, by age

In the United States, 35 to 44 year-olds are the age group most likely to identify themselves as a movie fan according to a new survey. 38 percent of this age group considered themselves to be avid fans, while 45 percent said that they were casual fans. However, the age group most likely to consider themselves avid movie fans were those aged 18 to 34 years old with 42 percent of respondents in that age group. About three-quarters of those aged 45 and over over consider themselves to be movie fans, though the share of those who say that they are avid fans drops with age.
