According to an October 2022 survey, smartphone apps were most popular among Chinese and Indian participants, with 53 percent of Chinese respondents highlighting them as their preferred way to pay for public charging.

The sample included 374 participants form China, 478 participants from Germany, 384 participants from India, 345 participants from Japan, 453 participants from South Korea, and 618 participants from the United States.
