Breakdown of flexible AC transmission systems worldwide 2021 by technology

In 2021, the flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) worldwide were almost equally distributed between STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensators), SVC (Static VAR Compensators), both at 31 percent, and series compensators, at 38 percent. FACTS are used for the transmission of alternating current in the electricity grid. The three types of FACTS listed here have a different connection to the power source: shunt compensation for STATCOM and SVC, and series compensation for the other technologies.
