Global capacity of small-scale electrolysis projects 2020-2026

In 2020, the world's electrolyzer capacity for hydrogen production amounted to 0.3 gigawatts. By 2026, this figure is forecast to increase to nearly 17 gigawatts, as a result of small-scale electrolysis projects planned across several countries worldwide. Furthermore, around half of these projects are estimated to use renewable capacity from the grid. Vehicle fueling has been the main application for hydrogen electrolyzer production capacity in recent years.
