In 2021, the total capacity of electrolyzers for hydrogen production commisioned that year amounted to 286.45 megawatts electrical (MWe), roughly a four-fold increase in comparison to the previous year. Vehicle fueling has been the main hydrogen application since 2019 - with an electrolyzer capacity of 146 MWe in 2021, up from less than one MWe in 2010.
