The government of Morocco's renewable target is to reach a renewable energy capacity of 80 percent of the total power generation by 2050. The target would be reached gradually, achieving 52 percent of renewable energy production in 2030 and 70 percent in 2040. In recent years, the country managed to increase its renewable capacity from around 1,600 megawatts in 2012 to over 3,500 megawatts in 2021.
