In 2022, global viewers on Twitch watched 62 million hours of the live-streamed category "I am only sleeping." This unique content category is said to have been invented as part of the subathon subgenres. Subathons are long live streaming sessions that can last for days, or as in the case of the Twitch streamer Ludwig, an entire month. During these live marathons, streamers do not stop broadcasting not even to sleep, choosing instead to sleep in front of the camera for their live audiences to see. While approximately 120 thousand hours of "I am only sleeping" live content were streamed in 2020, this amount increased by almost 2,000 percent the following year.
