According to a survey conducted in September 2022 among teenagers in the United States, over half of the respondents who reported accidentally encountering pornographic material online did so during their online explorations. In comparison, 23 percent reported being shown pornography by a friend or classmate they know in real life, while 12 percent of teens were shown by a friend or classmate they met online.
