The internet penetration rate in urban areas in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) stood at nearly 94 percent in 2023, having increased by three percentage points compared to the previous year. The share of the rural population using the internet in the region was approximately 13 percentage points lower in 2023. In total, approximately 89 percent of inhabitants of CIS countries were internet users.
